Tigers topple Temple

Tipton's No. 9 ranked Tigers roared on Friday as they routed Class C No. 10 ranked Temple, 48-16.

The Tigers were in control the entire game as they rushed to an early first quarter lead.  Quarterback Justin White started the scoring with a 1-yard touchdown run.  Robert Jasper added the two-point conversion and the Tigers led, 8-0.  Jasper added two more touchdowns, on a 3-yard run and a 55-yard punt return, and another two-point conversion as the Tigers took a 22-0 lead after the first period.
A 37-yard Rafael Simmons run got Temple on the board in the second, but Tipton answered with three more touchdowns to close the half.  White threw two touchdown passes, a 10-yarder to Anthony Hill and a 42-yarder to Nathan Soliz, and Shaun Hill knocked his way into the endzone from 1-yard out to give the Tigers a 42-8 halftime lead.
Jacob Cope tacked on Tipton's final score in the third, and a 68-yard Simmons run closed out the scoring Temple.
"I thought we played pretty well for the first game."  Tipton coach Jim Kerbo said, "I thought we executed real good on offense and overall I thought we played pretty well on defense.  We had a couple of defensive breakdowns here and there that we need to iron out and get better at, but overall I thought we play real well.  I though special teams did a great job last night, and, you know, for the first ballgame I couldn't ask for any more out of my kids  We got everybody into the ballgame, we worked hard, we played hard, and everything came out alright.  We had a couple of busts defensively that we need to get fixed, and I think it's minor adjustments, but I think if we do that then we'll be an awful tough football team."
Tipton hosts Central Marlow on Friday for the first of two meetings between the District B-1 foes.  The two kickoff for a non-district game at 7:30 p.m.
